Communications/Navigations/Mission Systems Specialist / Avionics Technician / Integrated Electronics Technician

 

As Systems Specialist, hold comprehensive responsibility in all areas of repair and maintenance of multiple avionics systems for 13 C-17A Globemaster III aircraft assigned to 305th and 514th Air Mobility Command.  Perform inspections/support for such integrated systems as communication, navigation, mission, radar, auto pilot, compass, flight recorders, aural warning systems and inertial navigation, among others.  Additionally, inspect for any physical damage, corrosion/deterioration, improperly secured equipment or any other defects.  Serve as team leader, instructing, supervising and evaluating variety of skill sets and assuring implementation of proper techniques and utilization of all data needed to complete assignment.

 

Employ wide array of testing equipment to ensure minimum operating standards for all navigational/communication systems are met, including input/output signals.  Produce prediction of progressive effects of any malfunctions in the avionics and other interrelated subsystems by testing, evaluating/analyzing, modifying, calibrating, troubleshooting and repairing/replacing.

Additionally, perform variety of maintenance functions for all switching networks, redundant systems, digital/analog systems, sensing instruments, electromechanical/electronic instruments, gearboxes, differential transducers, rate gyros, flux valves, power supplies, transceivers, antennas, waveguides, relays, transformers and filters, among other equipment.

 

To effect testing/troubleshooting, utilize built-in test programs as well as digital and analog testing equipment, and apply strengths in mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, optics and all subsystems.  Repair/replace wiring using applicable technical orders (T.O.s) and fault isolation (F.I.) manuals, as well as circuit breakers, hardware and all mounting equipment.  Utilize in-depth knowledge of voltages and waveforms, as well as thermal recording and various computer outputs, to assure repair and reassembly accuracy. 

 

Facilitate inspections and other testing by using variety of precision hand tools, such as micrometers, microscopes, torque wrenches and weight scales, along with ESD protective equipment.  Possess strong capability in interpreting test results based on in-depth knowledge of avionics systems, circuitry, digital/analog techniques, hexadecimal/octal/binary computer languages, language conversion processes and computer software analysis.  

 

As Flight Line Technician, repair and fabricate wiring/multi-conductor cables and perform pro-active preventive maintenance inspections and maintenance operational checks on aircraft and test equipment.  Additionally, facilitate on-the-job training for associates as required in support of developing superior skill sets in avionics system maintenance.  Maintain high levels of competency in utilization of wide array of test equipment to assure personal capability of meeting any assigned task.
