In my current position of Chief of Medical Maintenance Branch at Raymond W Bliss Medical Hospital, which I ve held for approximately 5 years, I have held full accountability for steering full scope of equipment management programs in compliance with JCAHO and NFPA, as well as numerous additional regulatory agency, standards. My responsibility for equipment programs and related services cover a broad scope of areas including analysis, contract vs. in-house service evaluation, and experimental electronics research, design, and development as well as computer applications ranging from medical device computer networking and security to equipment testing and evaluation. Illustrating my abilities in managing equipment programs, I received high praises during a recent TARA survey that resulted in health care center recognition for maintenance excellence of radiographic systems. Using OAP checklist to conduct internal audits, I have successfully driven operations to

pass the OAP and Mock JCAHO survey with no significant findings in the areas of Medical Equipment, Property Management, MIREP, and Medical Gas Management.

 

I proficiently manage all phases of equipment troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance, installation, and upgrades, and contribute my technical expertise toward facilitating acceptance, quality assurance and safety testing of complex biomedical systems.  Applying sharp administrative skills, I effectively update and maintain detailed inventory ledgers of equipment including, among others,

A key role through much of my career has been to effectively facilitate training and ongoing educational programs in order to maximize staff performance.   In this capacity, I ve not only customized existing programs to address training/ development needs, but have designed highly successful programs and supporting documents.

 

For instance, I have created PowerPoint presentations, staff competency training outlines and training documentation used to support effective orientation of new hires as well as meet annual training requirements in support of the safe, effective and regulatory-compliant use and management of medical equipment/biomedical technologies.  As a result of their effectiveness in achieving objectives, they have since been adopted as part of MEDDAC Memo 750-2. 

 

As Chief, Medical Maintenance Branch, I resourcefully instituted and delivered medical equipment training programs that succeeded in significantly boosting Technician efficiencies and operational quality while concurrently generating a $24k annual operating cost savings by bringing services in-house rather than outsourcing to contractors. In the role of Principle Investigator in medical device incident investigations, I have ensured crucial compliance with the Safe Medical Devices Act (SMDA).   I have further conducted thorough investigations in response to hazard/recall alerts and am proficient in steering quality assurance evaluations focused on regulatory compliance and patient/user safety.  Earlier in my career, as a Biomedical Engineer, I was also in charge of investigating medical device hazard alerts, recalls, updates, and incidents.
