KSA RESPONSES

1. Assist with the overall IHS HIV/AIDS program coordination, management and implementation on a national level.

I believe you will find my combined HIV/AIDS program facilitation, professional development and social services background effectively support IHS objectives in driving critical HIV/AIDS programs at the national level.  Additionally, I offer an MSW and have been a Licensed Graduate Social Worker for many years.

In my position as an HIV Prevention Manager with Unity Health Care in Washington, DC (2007-present) I have successfully created, coordinated and steered programs and initiatives focused on prevention of HIV/AIDS.  This has including spearheading department training and workshops as well as facilitating weekly support groups for HIV positive clients.  I additionally offer expert technical and administrative support to the Health Center Director and healthcare staff in a collaborative effort to achieve Unity Health Care s objectives.

Earlier in my career with Affordable Behavioral Consultants (2001-2003) I successfully spearheaded an HIV/AIDS counseling program to better serve the needs of our clientele and their families.  Similarly, as a Social Worker, Clinical Therapist and Program Therapist working with broad populations and addressing a wide range of psychosocial needs, I have consistently demonstrated the ability to effectively plan, coordinate and manage programs and services to meet critical goals for the employer.

Illustrating my focus on addressing crucial HIV/AIDS issues, I have continually taken the

initiative to gain knowledge through ongoing professional development.  Topics of training have included Assuring the Quality of HIV Prevention Counseling Practical Approaches for Supervisors, Strategies to Enhance Partner Notification, HIV and Family Planning, and HIV Prevention Counseling (both the Fundamentals and the Facts), among others.

2. Assist with program, policy and priority area formulation and operations of National IHS HIV/AIDS projects for AI/AN.

During my career I have successfully launched and administered programs, with full-scope accountability for defining and formulating policy, priority areas and operational structures.  With my current employer, Unity Health Care, I have successfully developed and implemented a national pilot HIV program.  Incorporating multiple strategies ranging from statistical analysis, needs assessment and target population development to diverse prevention, counseling and testing services, I have been highly effective in achieving our objectives as the organization s HIV Prevention Manager.  Working with Affordable Behavioral Consultants from 2001-2003, I also formulated a dynamic HIV/AIDS program focused on client and family counseling as well as community resourcing to address the unique needs of this distinct population.

Outside the HIV/AIDS field, in the capacity of Social Worker I have successfully defined and implemented social service/counseling program policy, priorities and delivery strategies. For instance, as a Program Therapist with Foundation School, I successfully partnered with teachers and psychiatrists in developing and implementing psycho-educational plans as well as presented at clinical planning, family and multidisciplinary meetings in support of program objectives.   I also took on a leadership role as a Social Worker with District of Columbia Alternative Learning Academy, where I chaired staff meetings focused on evaluating and setting policy and priorities as well as performed Director responsibilities.

3. Ability to prepare and communicate performance measures, deliverables, reports, and other documents as related to National HIV program.

As HIV Prevention Manager with Unity Health Care, I am continually compiling, preparing and communicating performance measures, deliverables, reports, and related documentation.  For example, I collect and analyze statistical data from Health Centers in order to develop and submit monthly reports for the Department of Health.  In developing and launching a national pilot HIV program, I conducted extensive information gathering and analysis in order to define program parameters and routinely monitor and report on our performance in achieving national HIV program goals.  Additionally, I produce and present diverse measurable data in conducting department training and workshops.

Though outside the realm of HIV/AIDS, I believe my subject matter expertise combined with additional experience in preparing and communicating data supports my qualifications.  For instance, during my Social Worker Field Placement with National Center on Institutions and Alternatives in Alexandria, VA, I collected volumes of background information, research and related information providing valuable

assessment tools and sentencing options benefiting the courts, clients and community.  Of note, the ability to effectively prepare and communicate complex information and reports was instrumental in successfully earning my Master of Social Work.

4. Ability to track, coordinate multiple project, communicates with multiple stakeholders, interagency contacts to sustain and further national IHS HIV program.

As a Licensed Graduate Social Worker, I routinely interface with a broad range of stakeholders, interagency contacts, community resources, and cross-functional teams to optimize delivery of services to target populations.  For example, in my present position of HIV Prevention Manager, I collaborate with the multiple Health Centers to generate statistical data and then provide monthly reports of findings to the Department of Health.  I also partner with the Health Center Director and healthcare staff as well as oversee the Counseling and Testing Department s operations.

During my tenure as a Program Therapist with Foundation School, 2004-2005, I effectively worked with psychiatrists, teachers, parents/families, and the school system to address the needs of special education populations. Earlier, while at Affordable

Behavioral Consultants, I strategically defined community resources and built key relationships in order to arrange community-focused activities supporting clients in achieving their treatment plan goals
