In my current position as Supervisor/ Leading Noncommissioned Petty Officer and Senior enlisted Liaison at the Yokohama Medical and Dental Annex for the United States Navy, I serve as a community medical clinic health manager and supervise military staff members in performing a wide variety of complex health functions.  In addition, I administer and perform duties related to the execution of a variety of public health programs within the Community Health Elements, including Population Health, Medical Standards, Epidemiology, Sexually Transmitted Infection Control and Prevention, Tuberculosis Control and Prevention, Deployment Health Surveillance, Immunization policies, Blood borne Pathogen Exposure Control, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance. 

 

I also supervise and perform various test methods offered within the clinical laboratory, using either manual and/or automated protocols.  Applying sharp analytical skills, I oversee and handle a variety of procedures including complex analyses and infrequently requested tests in various sections of the laboratory.  I proficiently manage and process specimen using equipment, instruments, or techniques. 

 

As a student at Field Medical Service School while in the US Navy, I acquired extensive training and experience on how to provide medical services.  I also learned how to maintain field treatment facilities and render first aid and emergency medical treatment to unit personnel/combatants.  I learned how to perform medical evacuation procedures, while ensuring observance of field sanitary measures and preventive measures in specialized warfare.

A key part of my jobs has been to continually apply my knowledge of current health care programs, issues, principles and practices.  I monitor and evaluate program functions in order to determine, develop, recommend, and implement targeted policies and procedures vital to ensuring compliance with all standards, laws and regulations.

 

Serving as the Supervisor/ Leading Noncommissioned Petty Officer and Senior enlisted Liaison at the Yokohama Medical and Dental Annex for the United States Navy, I am relied upon to lead, mentor and motivate team members and ensure they are properly educated on current health care programs.  As Leading Supervisor and Floor Corpsman, I directly manage the Training Supervisor, Assistant Supply Supervisor, Command HIPPA Security Officer and Command Privacy Officer, amongst others, playing an instrumental role in the development of top performing team members.

I have also held responsibility for applying my knowledge of current health care programs as the Supervisor/ Leading Noncommissioned Petty Officer Forward Deployed Surgery Team for the US Navy.  I volunteered to deploy for 8 months as an Individual Augmentee with the U.S Army Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force Afghanistan (3RD Special Forces Group (Airborne) and 7th Special Force Group (Airborne), Forward Surgical Team in Afghanistan.  Contributing strong detail orientation and organizational skills, I managed all activities focused on internal day-to-day operations and execution of established policies and procedures.

 

While working as the Supervisor/ Leading Senior Enlisted Noncommissioned Petty Officer, USNDC Far East Japan for the US Navy, I liaised effectively with patients and assisted patents and their families in access and coordination of care. I also supervised and developed program goals, plans, and policies dealing with the development and operation of clinical personnel functions and activities.

As the Supervisor/ Leading Noncommissioned Petty Officer and Senior enlisted Liaison at the Yokohama Medical and Dental Annex for the United States Navy, I repeatedly demonstrate my oral and written communication talents.  I build and establish key relationships and liaise effectively with the local community and public health officials, contributing strong oral communication and interpersonal relation abilities.  I also advise and counsel military staff members, playing a strong role in their development and training.  As the EEO and Patient Contact Representative, I consistently apply my advanced communication skills toward diffusing emotionally charged situations.

 

In my prior position as the Supervisor/ Leading Noncommissioned Petty Officer Forward Deployed Surgery Team for the US Navy, I prepared and delivered detailed briefings on the surgical team, its history, and its mission.  In addition, I effectively planned, coordinated and identified communication needs and implemented programs and processes. 

 

I actively interfaced with patients and their families as a Dental Assistant for the US Navy, exhibiting exceptional oral communication skills.  I proactively instructed patients in oral hygiene and provided chair side assistance.  I also applied my written communication and detail orientation skills in performing dental administrative, supply and accounting procedures.  In addition, I maintained treatment records and reports.

 

Additionally, I contributed my oral and written communication skills toward achieving my Master s Degree in Management and my Bachelor s Degree in Health Care Administration.
