'high quality of performance' - 2006
this is info that could be helpful. these are
old ksa's from a previous position i applied for-
1. working in the copyright technology office
has provided me with good written communication skills. record keeping and
keeping performance logs are two important parts of my current job. one of the
advantages i have is having access to a wide variety of software that lets me
be creative about how i want to format my information and convey it to others.
when other automation coordinators need accurate information to read and apply
to their users, i have shown the ability to convey that information to many
different employees here at the library of congress. whether it be e-mails or
giving other support technicians directions on how to complete a task, i ve
shown this ability constantly.
2. when dealing with troubleshooting computers
as i have been for the last five years, you develop a knack for talking to
people and handling different situations with customers. a user in the
technology field is a customer and a co-worker at the same time, so i am used
to explaining problems, going over solutions and handling frustrated users in
tight situations. i also worked in a fast paced entertainment complex and dealt
with a high volume of customers in the public. dealing with those customers
helped me to have more confidence in my next experience with customers. sometimes
we get calls in the technology office from the public about problems they re
experiencing with the web, application processes, etc. directing those
customers to the right person or explaining a solution over the phone in good
experience for me.
3. i have learned a great deal about working as
a group in the last five years. i attended courses at learningtree
international while working at the library of congress that required us to work
in groups to solve problems or come up with a plan of some sort. i look back on
those experiences often as reference for issues i might face. working as a
support technician requires close interaction with system analysts and other
automation coordinators in other sections of my division. i have proven i can
work with, as well as on the same level as my co-workers.
4. the copyright office in the library of
congress can often be very fast paced. when i first arrived here, i was in
charge of supporting three different divisions in the copyright office
including the office of the general council, receiving and processing, and
copyright acquisitions. although at times i requested help from my co-workers
in the copyright technology office, i was forced to learn how to cope with a
certain level of stress and still perform at a high level. this is one of the
qualities that i, as well as my superiors, think is one of my best attributes.
5. my biggest improvement since starting at the
library of congress is in the area of oral communications. in my previous jobs,
i didn t need to communicate orally nearly as much as i do today. a major part
of planning and implementing procedures is talking to others as well as getting
information from them. working with the systems analysts in my section has been
such a huge advantage to me. it gives me an edge over those who work alone in
supporting a certain number of users. i ve had to communicate with the
information technology specialists constantly, and the employees in my section
have chosen me on numerous occasions to speak for the entire office when doing
so.
