IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT: Stand as an Immigration Enforcement Agent and Acting Supervisory Immigration Enforcement Agent responsible for supervising, leading, or performing work involving planning, conducting, or managing investigations related to alleged or suspected criminal violations of Federal Immigration laws. Support the quick, accurate, and lawful prosecution of detainees by mastering procedures such as fingerprinting and photographs, routine interviews/interrogations and responding to general immigration inquiries of illegal arriving aliens. Investigate whether alleged criminals have violated law and require removal proceedings and apprehension.
PROSECUTION:
Prosecute cases including Entry without Inspection (1325) and Re-entry after
Deportation (1326). Recognize, develop, and present evidence to reconstruct
events, sequences, time elements, relationships, responsibilities, legal
liabilities, and conflicts of interest. Conduct investigations in a manner
meeting legal and procedural requirements. Provide sworn testimony.
Advise and assistance both in and out of court to the U.S. Attorney s Office
during investigations and prosecutions.
IMMIGRATION LAW: Demonstrate a significant knowledge of pertinent statutes, regulations, policies, and guidelines, including the Immigration and Naturalization Act, Code of Federal Regulations or the Uniform Code of Military Justice; Federal Rules of Criminal Procedures, Federal Sentencing Guidelines, and Federal guidelines on the conduct of criminal investigations.
TECHNIQUES/TACTICS: Master and often utilize criminal investigative techniques, such as protective surveys and assignments, surveillance, and undercover work. Understand the evidence required to prove a crime was committed, the jurisdiction of various agencies, sources of information and how to develop them (e.g., informants, surveillance, and undercover work), electronic countermeasures, and the latest technological advances used by criminals and investigators.
INTRA-AGENCY COLLABORATION: Offer sworn statements aboard US Coast Guard Cutters for yawls that were intercepted by these cutters in order to initiate criminal prosecution cases. Collaborate with Border Patrol Agents and Criminal Investigators. Successfully apprehended various fugitives as part of Fugitive Operations Teams in California, Arizona, Miami, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Join teams such as Special Operations Groups learn important safety tactics. Current member of an SRT member for the Miami Field Office (Green Team) and currently assigned to a Non-Detained Compliance Enforcement Unit (Fugitive Operations).
