Petroleum Supply Specialist

 

Assigned varied and comprehensive fuel supply duties and functions.  Upon tanker truck or pipeline-delivered fuel arrival at distribution station, determined appropriate reception tank and directed filling.  Held responsibility for maintaining daily and monthly fuel and equipment inventory and records for materials valued in excess of $1.5MM, and was responsible for collection and management of all property receipts.    

 

Oversaw distribution to variety of motor vehicles, including refueling units and hose carts, as well as to aircraft.  Operated complex workstations, directing vehicle positioning at fill stand.  Transferred fuel from bulk storage tanks utilizing deep well turbine and centrifugal pumps, maintaining constant communication with hydrant pit and bulk storage operators during transfer operation. Observed all safety precautions during process such as assuring proper grounding of equipment, particularly when transferring fuel to refueling trucks and other receiving units, and continually monitored gauges, meters, switches and valves to ensure proper working order and positioning.  Utilized emergency switches when situations called for immediate action and notified operators when to shut down systems.  Blended static dissipater additive (SDA) with fuel in tank during any fuel movement operations.  Supervised hot refueling for battalion, supplying JP-8 without incident to 38+ aircraft during aerial gunnery activities

 

When working in confined space pits, activated combustible gas and oxygen indicator alarm system and lower explosive limits meter, and utilized all protection equipment.  Recorded all readings and followed all requirements of the confined space entry program; held license for driving Hazmat vehicles.   To prevent any product deterioration and to assure internal pipeline viability, oversaw fuel circulation.   Continually tested fuel to assure compliance with aviation standards, pulling samples for laboratory review.
