1) Knowledge of extensive
rules, procedures, operations, functions, and commitments applied to clerical
assignments to perform the procedural and administrative work of the office,
such as screening calls and visitors, maintaining supervisor's calendar,
preparing, reviewing and editing documents, locating and assembling information
for various reports spreadsheets, databases, and graphs, maintaining
files/records, and making and preparing travel arrangements.
Through much of my career, administrative and clerical functions have been a
primary role. In my most recent position as an Administrative Assistant
to the President/CEO of a Federal Credit Union, as well as a key player in
administrative functions related to varied Boards and Committees, I managed a
broad range of operations. Concurrently, I supported diverse internal
Departments, including Marketing and Business Development. I was in charge of
managing and routing a high volume of incoming phone communications to
appropriate departments as well as greeting and directing visitors,
consistently ensuring delivery of superior customer service and proactive
public relations. I also interacted with broad populations including clients
and Board members as well as internal staff and volunteer personnel.
I was responsible for developing, editing and producing diverse written materials ranging from correspondence, meeting materials and marketing brochures/collateral to reports, spreadsheets and related documents. I also efficiently researched, compiled and produced detailed statistical materials.
My dynamic planning, organization and prioritization skills were instrumental in efficiently managing calendars/schedules as well as coordinating meetings and events. I further demonstrated strong computer/technical skills in administering databases and websites.
2) Ability to work well with others in team setting; and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and format to accurately prepare and edit written correspondence and reports.
As a Detox Technician from 2005-2007, I employed strong communication skills in facilitating patient admissions, gathering critical information, conducting needs assessments, and implementing treatment programs and counseling sessions within a collaborative teamwork setting. In my most recent position, I effectively communicated with all levels of staff, from support team to Board members and customers and effectively managed phones and visitor reception, requiring the ability to speak in a professional manner. In a prior capacity as a Financial Services Associate, I exhibited superior communication skills in conferring with clients to identify financial needs and provide recommendations. I further interacted with our customers in researching and responding to inquiries and processing a broad range of transactions.
I have consistently applied my command of language toward writing everything from clinical/counseling reports/chart content, correspondence and marketing brochures/pamphlets to presentations and statistical summaries. This has required the ability to edit/proof materials for spelling, grammatical and structural accuracy and ensuring production of quality communications.
3) Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with leadership, individuals/families, heads of service agencies, and their representatives, and briefing objectives, strategies, and implementation concepts.
In facilitating recovery programs as a Detox Technician, I had the opportunity and responsibility to build proactive working relationships with counselors, community resource/agency personnel and representatives, chemical/alcohol dependent clients, and family members. I productively conferred with senior management and primary counselors, providing informed recommendations and summarizations on immediate and emerging treatment program needs, transitional requirements, and related matters. I also conferred with clients family members to gather vital information, briefed them on patient status and progress, advised them on available internal and community resources and briefed them on client/patient progress and transitional needs.
I gained valuable experience in working with leadership as an Administrative Assistant to the President/CEO, routinely collaborating with senior staff as well as Board and Committee members as well as external partners in support of credit union objectives. Similarly, as a Financial Services Associate, I was relied on to maintain ongoing interaction with senior staff in providing our diverse financial services.
4) Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium size organization to include mentoring, motivating, and managing the performance of subordinates, directly or with the assistance of staff, as well as applying personnel management regulations, practices, and procedures.
As an Administrative Assistant to the President/CEO, I gained exposure to diverse aspects of human resource functions and practices, and actively worked with staff and our volunteers in ensuring their ready access to our technology resources and website. Additionally demonstrating strong leadership abilities, I successfully trained peers in Teller Operations while working in the financial services industry. While pursuing my degree, I gained valuable experience in coordinating and managing small groups while developing, organizing and facilitating recruitment campaigns and events each semester as a member of Kappa Kappa Sorority.
I believe some of my key strengths in having the ability to train, develop, mentor, motivate, and direct staff comes from my academic background. With a BA in Psychology, I have extensive theoretical and practical background in human relations. I am aware of the practices and techniques that support human development and possess a solid understanding of key motivators that are vital to maximizing performance. In studies, such as Theories of Personality, I gained the skills needed to effectively work with diverse individuals within the workforce.
5) Knowledge of social services delivery systems as well as concepts,
principles, theories, and practices relating to one or more of the social or
behavioral science fields.
My strong academic background in the areas of social and behavioral sciences has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of concepts, principles, theories, and practices guiding the delivery of services. Presently, I am in the process of earning an MA in Professional Counseling, and have previously earned a BA in Psychology. Key coursework has included studies in sociological principles, social psychology, behavioral disorders, criminal psychopathology, abnormal psychology, drugs and behavior, and research methodologies.
Supporting this, I have practical experience as a Detox Technician, working in an environment focused on the social and behavioral aspects of addition and recovery both in individual and group settings. I have been integrally involved in patient treatment and recovery from intake through transition, applying a therapeutic community model toward supporting individuals in re-integrating with society. I am skilled in capitalizing on a broad spectrum of resources, from appropriate clinician and agency referrals and individual and group therapy to visual, audiovisual and written material tools and technology-driven aids.
6) Knowledge of financial, budget, & resource management practices and techniques to provide clients with appropriate financial data and practical financial skills to enable them to make informed personal financial management decisions.
In 2006, I accepted a position as a Financial Services Associate within the financial services industry. In counseling clients, I effectively applied a solid knowledge of financial products, services and strategies and skills in financial analysis toward actively working with them in making informed personal financial management decisions and selecting optimal services and products tailored toward their individual needs and financial goals. I also acquired familiarity with related Federal and State regulatory standards. In this position, I worked with diverse loan and investment products as well as routine deposit, withdrawal and cash/check services.
In recognition of my talent for rapidly acquiring and utilizing financial skills, I was promoted to serve as the Administrative Assistant to the President/CEO of our credit union. This provided me an opportunity to expand my knowledge by working with complex statistical and financial data to develop detailed reports for senior management use as well as presentation to Board, Allowance for Loan Loss Committee (ALCO), Supervisory Committee, and Nominating Committee members and representatives.
