I am highly interested in being considered for the available Supply Management Specialist position at the Department of Defense.  With over 17 years of varied experience working in both the private and military sectors, I believe I can make a positive contribution in this position.  To acquaint you with my qualifications, I am submitting my resume.  In advance, I thank you for your time and consideration.

 

As demonstrated in the accompanying documents, I built a successful career in the United States military as a Captain in the Marine Corps.  As an S-4 Officer, I held management responsibility for over $100MM in motor transport, weapons systems, communications equipment and engineering assets.  I oversaw maintenance programs designed to extend equipment life while assuring organizational readiness.  For five major exercises and deployments, I managed 500 personnel and more than 140 vehicles valued at $20MM. 

 

Earlier, in my role of Division Commander, Headquarters and Service Division, I was tasked with leadership and organizational management of a 200-personnel unit, including directing three major field operations and three critical inspections.  Prior to this, I was the Assistant Operations Officer/Training Officer, where I organized and developed training opportunities for 500 individuals and increased unit readiness 30% in two critical areas.  I also served as Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection Officer, Nuclear, Chemical, Biological (NBC) Officer, and Classified Material Control Officer.

 

At Camp Lejeune, NC, I held positions as Battalion Maintenance Management Officer and later Regimental Maintenance Management Officer.  In these assignments, I was responsible for the supply chain/maintenance process, proactively assessing and identifying any problems or issues and resolving them.  I utilized effective parts tracking and procurement, and excellent repair techniques, to meet all QA standards.   Additionally, I oversaw staff and assured maintenance of readiness for up to $100MM in unit assets.  I also held the position of Embarkation Officer, where I was charged with planning and implementing movement of personnel and material utilizing surface roads, rail lines, ships and aircraft.  This required responsibility for in-transit visibility (ITV) as well as packing and tracking of unit assets.
